ActorOS · Account deletion
Delete your ActorOS account
You can delete your ActorOS account and its data at any time, for any reason, without asking us first. This page explains both ways to do it and exactly what gets removed.
1. Deleting from inside the app (fastest)
Open ActorOS and go to Settings → Danger Zone → Delete account. Confirm when prompted. No support ticket is involved and nobody has to approve it.
Your profile comes down straight away. The moment you confirm, your profile is unpublished — the public page at app.actoros.in/p/your-handle stops resolving, you leave search, and you stop appearing to other users.
The permanent deletion happens 30 days later, and you can cancel it during those 30 days. The window exists so that a deletion made in error, or by someone who briefly had your phone, is recoverable. To cancel, sign in again within the 30 days and choose to cancel the deletion; your account returns, and you can republish your profile yourself. After the 30 days the deletion runs and is irreversible.
Two things are worth knowing before you start the clock. First, signing in during the window does not by itself cancel anything — you have to cancel it. Second, the 30-day window may be extended where we are required or permitted by law to preserve information; see section 5.
2. Requesting deletion without the app
If you have uninstalled ActorOS, lost access to your phone number, or cannot sign in, email support@actoros.in from the email address on the account, or include the phone number you registered with. Put “ActorOS account deletion request” in the subject line.
We verify that the request genuinely comes from the account holder before deleting anything — otherwise anyone could delete anyone else’s profile. We will respond within 7 days and complete verified deletions within 30 days, as required under the DPDP Act.
3. What is deleted
Once the 30-day window has passed the deletion runs, and from that point it cannot be undone. We remove:
- Your public web page at
app.actoros.in/p/your-handle— it stops resolving and returns “not found”. Copies already taken by search engines, caches or other people are outside our control; see Privacy Policy, section 3; - Your login and account record;
- Your profile — name, stage name, handle, photos, intro reel, portfolio media, physical attributes, skills, location and contact details;
- Uploaded files in every media bucket — avatars, intro reels, portfolio and post media;
- Your applications, shortlists, contact requests, notifications and profile-view history;
- Your consent records and any pending data requests.
Chat messages are the exception, and always have been. A conversation belongs to two people. Messages you sent are not erased from the other participant’s copy — in the same way an email you sent stays in the recipient’s inbox — and the conversation record is not linked to your account record, so the account deletion does not cascade into it. Your identity is removed: after deletion you appear in a conversation only as an internal identifier, with no name, handle, photograph or contact detail. Message records may also be produced in response to a lawful request from a competent authority. This page previously listed messages among the things deleted; that was wrong, and it is corrected here.
4. What is kept, and for how long
| Data | Kept for | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A deletion record holding a random account identifier and the date — no name, email, phone or profile content | Indefinitely | Proof that we honoured your deletion, if it is ever questioned |
| Usage analytics already de-linked from your identity | Up to 18 months, then aggregated | Cannot be traced back to you; used only for product statistics |
| Records under a preservation hold, and records we are required by law to retain (see section 5) | The period the law requires | Legal obligation — this overrides deletion |
Messages you already sent to another user may remain visible in their copy of the conversation, in the same way an email you sent stays in the recipient’s inbox. Your profile and identity are removed from it.
5. When deletion is deferred: preservation holds
In a small number of cases we are required, or legally permitted, to preserve information for longer than our ordinary retention allows — most often where a child-safety report, an investigation, a request from a competent authority, or a legal proceeding concerns the account. In those cases a preservation hold is placed on the account.
What a hold does, and what it does not do:
- Your deletion request is still accepted, and your profile still comes down immediately. A hold does not keep you visible and does not keep your page on the web.
- The permanent purge is deferred while the hold is in place, rather than running at the end of the 30 days. When the hold is released, the purge runs.
- Held information is retained for the period required or permitted by applicable law, or for as long as reasonably necessary in connection with the matter, and is then deleted.
- Held information is not used for anything else — not for the product, not for analytics, not for marketing.
This is the one clause on this page that can outlast your request, and it is stated here rather than buried because it is the honest position: we cannot promise to destroy information we may be required to preserve. The same rule is set out in Child Safety Policy, section 11 and in Privacy Policy, section 8.
6. Before you delete
Save anything you want to keep — photos, your intro reel and portfolio files are deleted from our storage and we cannot recover them afterwards. If you sign up again later it will be a new, empty account; nothing is restored.
